Djute EP Review - By Kevin from Bristol Rocks

Kissing the DJ.  I first heard this track live when Julie and the bassist played at an open mic night. I mentioned to Julie that I liked the song and she told me  that "a lot of people say that".

This really doesn't surprise me because this is a top notch tune with a great hook consisting of  the riff that runs through the song. It it well played, well recorded and well sung. Enough from me, listen to it yourself!

Cigarette song is another great track from Djute, every time I listen to it I like it a little better. There is a brilliant middle part that you REALLY must listen too. If you want a copy, get in touch with the band, there are contact details on their Bristol Rocks page linked below.

Roundabout is the slower track from the EP. This is a complex & moody song that I feel that you have to be in the mood for.

Fender livens up the atmosphere with a good solid song highlighted by Julie's vocals at their most splendid. This is kind of 'Joan Armatrading with a twist of Alanis Morrissette'.

The only thing that let this Album down is the packaging. The song content is excellent, the playing is excellent and the singing is excellent. Djute, go out and get the bloody thing packaged properly. These songs should not be wasted, get the artwork sorted and promote your excellent work!
