| I first met Julie Baker from Djute at an open mic
night three years ago. I was impressed with her then and I am more
than impressed with her bands latest recording. Djute have veered
from the mainstream with this fine four track CD. |
 |
| The first track is called impossible and
it has one of those catchy choruses that embed themselves in your
conscious so that you find yourself humming it at inopportune
moments. Very good, very commercial. |
|
The second track 'carefully crafted' features some nice fiddle
playing and is quite brilliantly different. This is my favourite
track of the collection because it takes Djute to a different level
that is eclectic and as far as I know unique. Want something classy
and unusual, well this is it! Girlsworld is another really good
pop song that has a chorus that reminds me of a few Blondie tracks.
Don't let this put you off, this is a very good song that has a
lyric that gives you an insight into the writers world. |
 |
| Laura is an acoustic track that once
again benefits from the fiddle playing. This is one of the things
that takes Djute into the premier music league, the other thing is
their song writing. This is not standard three chord rubbish, these
songs have been written in the style of track two and that is
carefully crafted. We at Bristol Rocks love Djute's style and
award them a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for this fine four track CD. |
