CDReview - Fabric - four two

By Kevin - Bristol Rocks

Fabric is a daft name for a band in my opinion and you can trust the opinion of someone that was once in a band called 'Dangerous Bruce'. This however is my one and only criticism about this band and their new release. Spawned from Bath based duo Parry:Matthews, Simon and Anna have reached a higher level of art with this new band & album.

'Four two' looks the business with the photo of Weston Super Mare pier on the front cover getting our approval straight away.

The album contains ten original tracks and every one of them is ace. The overall sound is Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac. 'Four two' in my opinion, is as good if not better than anything that Fleetwood Mac ever released. This is a world class top notch collection of songs that has been recorded and mastered to the highest level of quality. An album that you can listen too in it's entirety time after time without skipping a track here and there, because there is no reason to do so.

We are not quite sure where this one should go in the Bristol Rocks top ten CD's. It is every bit as good as the Jebo & Torn CD's that remain at the top positions. Since it is a new release, we will place it at the coveted No1 position for a while. Well done guys!

Please get yourself a copy of this fine album, you will thank me for the recommendation when you do.

Review by Steve Bristol Rocks

I would also like to throw in my commendation of this album.
As Kevin has already said, it is well worthy of the top slot on our TOP TEN.
This is a very well written and produced CD.
The writing is moody and as well as Stevie Nicks I can detect a bit of KT Tunstall in there.
The overall feel to this album oozes experienced seasoned musicians, it gives you that warm feeling that they really know what they are about and have nothing to prove.
My only observation strictly from a personal point of view is that I would prefer some more Up Tempo tracks mixed in with the moody stuff just to introduce some dynamics and contrast.
Another one for my iPod I think.

BRISTOL ROCKS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
