The Gala Band are an emotive piano/ acoustic guitar/ alt-pop/
rock/jazz/folk 4 piece from Bristol. Their music is a carefully
blended mix
from quirky, gentle and meaningful songs, to striking, powerful
epics. The
beautiful female vocals, looping guitars and carefully crafted
songs
created by an established song writing duo are what make this
group
standout as something a little different. Regularly compared to
the likes
of Tori Amos, KT Tunstall, Fiona Apple and with the intensity of
Cat Power
or Kate Bush you can begin to build a picture of what you
might get from the band. Their inspirations are drawn from a
spectrum
covering Miles Davis to Elliot Smith, Eliza Carthy to The Ghost
Busters
sound track and everything in between. There debut E.P is set
for release
in April 2007.

".Then the unexpectedly inventive Gala Band, their lovely,
Lilliputian
frontwoman outclassing everything else by a country mile:
keyboardy,
ambitious composition and hair-standing vocal control, mining
similar
seams to thinking man's crumpet like Regina Spektor or Cat
Power."

"The Gala Band almost cannot be described. There's a definite
surprise in
many of their songs, with clever electronics bringing a sound
unimaginable
to what your eyes are seeing. Wherever they perform, there is a
request
for more. They take you into a journey of pure quality mixed
with realism
and a definite edge."

"An acoustic treat from two-thirds of The Gala Band. Hannah's
crystal
clear vocals and the electronic trickery really lifted their
acoustic
into something quite magical, recording live loops to create a
one-woman
choir."
