Burnin' Blues have finished their support set and Jake Stigers & the Velvet Roots take to the stage. There are not many people in the Thekla tonight although the band played to a full house last night at the Fire Engine and some new fans from this gig were leading the cheering. I really don't understand why there wasn't a bigger turn out for this gig because Jake Stigers and the Velvet Roots are one of the best bands that I have seen either in or out of Bristol. The band played 90% original music and were as tight as Jordan's bikini top. Despite the poor turn out, they played a storming set of excellent songs. The Thekla has a superb sound system and the Stigers sound monkey knew exactly how to operate it to give a perfect balance.
	I really can't fault the performance or the musical content, the only thing that I can fault is YOU, for not going along to help fill the venue and treat yourself to an evening with what must be one of New York's best bands and certainly the best band that I have seen for some time. Later in the set they called Nikki Brooks on stage for a rocking version of the Paul Rogers classic 'Feel like making Love' Guys, you were awesome and I apologise for the miss-informed people of Bristol for not turning out as they should have.
