Miss Black America

CD Review by Steve from Bristol Rocks

This is a band who know what they are about.
From the music they write to the art work on the promo CD we review here and a very clever web site design this is a serious bunch of people.
Not that the rest of us aren't serious, but this is a good example of commitment and a clear statement of intent to succeed.

There are two tracks on this CD 'Emotional Junkmail' and 'It's Alright'.
Very different tracks that show the versatility of the band.

'EMOTIONAL JUNKMAIL' is just the sort of track that today's teenage kids can easily relate to. It talks about 'Broken Hearts and Broken Homes' and 'Just tell me what I want to hear, I need the easiest answer'. I work in a school and I think these lyrics sum up the mind-state  of some kids I deal with.

'ITS ALRIGHT' being an acoustic unplugged track lets you down gently from the might of the first track. It's very short, but if you listen carefully to the lyrics it's not sweet. Strong words but still a good track.

Great Musicianship, Great Vocals. I read on their web site that they have had a fair amount of recognition and airplay. So listen out for more. There are two CD albums available on their site so click on the link below and check it out.
