Bristol Rocks Bootleg - Kyra Bernice @ Alfie's Acoustic Session - Kellaway Arms |
|
| Review by Kevin from Bristol Rocks & Rob Norbury | |
|
Kyra Bernice Headlined an amazing acoustic night at the Kellaway arms. This was held on the same night as the England Sweden world cup match so the audience was a little smaller than usual. Well this suited us just fine because it was Alfie's finest night yet and we got premium seats. The first act was Labels for Jam jars. I have seen them four times now and they get better every time. Next up were Unplugged and not Dangerous, what can I say about them other than 'who is the old fool with that awesome guitarist?'. A husband and wife act from Australia followed and they were just amazing, I will attempt to feature them in the guest band slot ASAP. So three excellent acts, how will Kyra follow that........? |

Well in Alfie's words, " there is only one person with a gob big enough to follow that....Kyra Bernice!' Kyra played a selection of songs with the bassist from her band Etched in Stone. The first song Dead girl on Earth proved Alfie right. Kyra's voice is big, and controlled, and as gorgeous as the lady herself. Her playing was spot on, as was that of her bassist. |

Kyra's stage presence is first rate, she is competent and confident, a true professional. The acoustic guitar and bass provided an exciting, lively backing to Kyra's exceptional vocal talent. If the rest of her band are as competent as these two then Etched in stone are a band that you cannot afford to miss. If you get the opportunity to see Kyra at an acoustic session, I can promise that you will not be disappointed. |
