Future of the Blues Festival 2007 Part 1
Portcullis Fishponds Sept 1st & 2nd

Saturday best performance: Hollow Bone for their passion grace and fire.

Sunday best performance: Chris Scott's Blues Devils for their originality.

It seems to me that having frequented the Portcullis jam tonight, (tonight being 3.35am,sad innit) that everyone must still be hanging after the weekend's frivolities. I mean, it was great like it always is, but every man Jack that I spoke with tonight was singing a bloody miserable song. Everyone seems to think that Steve & Arlene taking a well-earned sabbatical will be the death of the Blues in the land we know as the 'ponds.

Oh ye of little faith!

Last weekend was the best thing that has happened in Fishponds for fucking years! (If you like that sort of thing.)

Let's face it, music lovers, the 'Cullis used to be a bit poo, didn't it? It now could be the best shit-kicking venue north of the river so let's not lose the momentum we've started...

Get yer arse down there and support it before it goes the same way as too many other beautiful venues have.

...now back to Brian in the studio...

lotsa luv'n'stuff, Gary & Maggie & Jerry & Nik from Uncensored

The South London Pistons provided some variety to Saturday's Line-up with their harder rock/blues end of the spectrum  ... The Cedars: Is this a banjo or a ukelele?  Different sounds and all part of a very eclectic line-up.

The opening band on Saturday 1 September 2007 was Vulnerable Things.  It is never easy to be the first band up at a festival and they did a fine job and received an appropriate reception at the end of their set.
Guitar and bass histrionics from Jay Tamkin and the Crackers, who were shit hot by the way ...
Jon Amor and his band played an explosive set.

Electric Super Mud: This duo played instead of Ronnie and Johnny and topped off a fine day of entertainment ...

The front man of the Mean Red Spiders plays a mean red guitar. Uncensored stood in for Congregation at short notice and here is front man Gary Thomas giving his all ...
Musician of the festival award:  Clive Oliver who got up to jam with Uncensored and then later in the day could be seen holding his own on the piano after a long absence ... tears of joy were running down the faces of the many musos present!
Steve Payne and John Fenlon closed the festival and some of us went home!

Chris Scott's Blues Devils gave another original performance - the one I liked the most on Sunday - Nikki

Loose Change, Probably the LOUDEST  band of the weekend and the reason why we all had to play indoors after their festival warm-up gig outdoors on the previous Sunday ...

The Bonneville's. This powerhouse duo came all the way from Belfast to play at the festival!
